Voter Registration

An August 20, 2008 Charlotte Post news story cited that there are 8,000,000 African Americans still not registered to vote.  Despite our recent success with our Project Vote programs, this alarming statistic shows that there is still a great deal of work to do.  I ask that each chapter reenergize itself to promote voter registration and education during the next nine weeks. We should begin this initiative by ensuring that every member in your chapter—financial or nonfinancial—is registered to vote.

On a regional level, I am setting as a goal to ensure that 100% of the brothers in the Southeastern Region are registered to vote—and do vote—in this year’s election. Within the next few weeks, you will receive a call from a

member of the Regional Board to solicit your chapter’s support in this initiative.
